William Mellin
President
Chief Executive Officer
William Mellin was named president and CEO of the New York State Credit Union League in June 2000. Prior to becoming president, he served as a Senior Vice President of the League for six years.
Mellin held a number of management positions within the financial services industry before joining the League.
In addition to his League responsibilities, Mellin’s professional affiliations include treasurer of CUNA Strategic Services, Inc., secretary of the American Association of Credit Union Leagues executive board, board member of Credit Union Service Corporation and past director of the Mortgage Bankers Association. He is also involved with several community service organizations including the Stratton Mountain Foundation in southern Vermont and the Friends of Pruyn House in Latham, New York. Mellin received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts where he also served as director of student affairs.

Edward Kovalefsky
Senior Vice PresidentKovalefsky graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany, with a Bachelor of Science degree. He joined Urbach, Kahn & Werlin, P.C., Certified Public Accountants, as staff accountant and auditor. During his 12 years of public accounting, he became a vice president and shareholder in the firm. He went on to become vice president and controller of the Lawrence Insurance Group, a publicly traded insurance holding company. He joined the New York State Credit Union League as Vice President and CFO in 1993.

Marc Inger
Chief Operating OfficerInger joined the New York State Credit Union League (NYSCUL) in December 1998 as director of business development/operations for the New York State Shared Service Centers, now known as the Universal Sharing Network (UsNet). In 2005, Inger was promoted to
chief operating officer. In this role, he oversees staff and focuses on long and short-term strategies to expand and enhance the shared service center network. Inger also handles all the sales efforts, providing detailed analyses for credit unions interested in joining the network.
Prior to joining the NYSCUL, Inger gained credit union experience as a board member and executive officer of Jefferson Pilot Communications FCU in Charlotte, NC, where he served from 1995-1998. In addition, he served as a board member and executive officer of Kenwood Child Development Center in Albany, NY, from 1999-2004.
Inger holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Drew University and a master’s degree in Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. |

William Bywater
Director of Operations
Bywater graduated from Hofstra University with a Bachelor of Arts in Finance and Banking. He joined General Electric Company, as an accountant and auditor under their Financial Management program. In 1999, he joined the New York State Credit Union League as a senior auditor, was named audit manager in 2000, and in 2002 became financial network services manager with the New York State Shared Service Centers, now known as the Universal Sharing Network (UsNet).
In his current position he is responsible for UsNet’s day-to-day operations, network participant training and providing management with various pro forma and network trend analysis. |
